A Touching the Earth Project, in association with ST&AR Architects, all milk crates and bottles are sponsored by PolyOak, Cape Town

Touching the Earth Lightly was approached to submit a project proposal for the construction of an exhibition space for the City of Cape Town's Green Goal Program. The Green Goal Program consists of various environmental initiatives undertaken by the municipality of Cape Town aimed at countering the negative environmental impacts associated to the construction of the Green Point World Cup Stadium.

Nine organisations submitted project proposals to the City of Cape Town for the construction of an exhibition space.

Touching the Earth Lightly established a joint venture with ST&AR Architects and was appointed to build the stand based on the project concept as captured by Andre Rademeyer of ST&AR Architects below:

These guidelines express a relationship between humans and the earth based on custodianship, sensitivity and respect, that results in developments that have the least possible impact (both visually and physically) on the natural & cultural landscape, and that reflect both internally and externally, the “sense of place” evoked by the intrinsic qualities of the landscape.

Touching the Earth Lightly promotes a set of life-style values that aim to re-connect people to the earth through decison making based on respect and understanding. This is a celebration of life, of art, innovation, creativity and shared values between human beings - but most importantly, it's a requirement for our survival as people on this infinitely beautiful planet.
