Fittings and furniture made from invasive alien timber
You can build beautiful furniture fittings for your home using alien invasive timber.
Its not just for decking and benches. It's also for the more delicate internal fittings and finishes.
The concept here is to add-value to the activity of alien clearing (ultimately biodiversity conservation) by creating furniture from the alien timber harvested. Species from which such furniture is produced include Pine, Gum, Poplar, Oak, Black Wattle, Manatoka and others.
All wood is felled as trees, extracted, milled, machined, cured and treated (depending on when it was felled e.g. moon-phase harvested) before it's turned into beautiful hand-made products for your home.
You'll also be supporting job-creation and biodiversity conservation in South Africa.
Clearing alien timber also results in more water flowing down into rivers and streams. The less alien invasive timber we have, the more space we have for Fynbos to grow. Projects like the "Working for Water Program" demonstrate this by creating thousands of jobs for unemployed people.
Thats good stuff for the environment and the country!
