Eco Tree Toilet
The concept here was to investigate the need, or lack thereof, to import structural timber/metal beams for the purposes of construction of low-tech structures.
Here, an existing cypress tree trunk is used as the main support for an outside toilet “wrapped” around the tree. The base of the tree is reinforced through the roof structure and its support poles, thus ensuring that when the root systems of the tree rots away (which it will) that the structure is sound and stable.
Using principles like these, one can minimize the need for importing high embedded energy materials to site, thus minimizing the carbon footprint of the project as a whole.
