One Flush Shower
We are generally unaware of how much water we use on a daily basis. We also don’t want to be made to feel guilty about our choices or the way we live. This poses an inherent contradiction.
The concept here was to encourage children to manage their water consumption in a fun, creative and engaging way.
A toilet cistern was modified to act as a shower, and placed on the wall. One flush of the toilet would release a predetermined amount of water (derived very simply from the ball-valve system in the cistern).
The shower is called the “one person, one flush” shower, a borrowed term from the apartheid days in South Africa of “One man, one vote”. This was a conscious decision to link the struggle against Apartheid to the present day struggle – on of people needing to manage their natural resources.
